Vocabulary Exercise

ESL English God created the fish and the birds

Here are 5 vocabulary words to study, from the fifth day of creation.

  1. Read the word.
  2. Learn the meaning of the word.
  3. Listen to the pronunciation.
  4. Look at how it is spelled.
  5. Understand how it is used in the sample sentences.

1. creature

/ˈkriː tʃər/ (noun)

a living thing that moves, for example, an animal  (plural – creatures)

You alone are the Lord,…Creator of the ocean and all its creatures.   (Nehemiah 9:6)

Every wild creature is in my care.  (Psalms 50:11)

2. bird

/bɜːrd/ (noun)

a creature that has feathers, two legs, and two wings (plural – birds)

Birds build their nests nearby and sing in the trees. (Psalms 104:12)

I, the Lord All-Powerful, will protect Jerusalem like a mother bird circling over her nest.  (Isaiah 31:5)

3. give

/ɡɪv/ (verb)

to transfer something to somebody

He gives justice to the poor and food to the hungry.  (Psalms 146:7)

The water I give will become in that person a flowing fountain that gives eternal life.  (John 4:14)

4. tell

/tel/ (verb)

to give information to someone by speaking or writing

I tell you for certain that everyone who has faith in me has eternal life.  (John 6:47)

We are here to tell you the good news.  (Acts 13:32)

5. blessing

/ˈbles ɪŋ/ (noun)

God’s help and protection, or a prayer asking for this

What a blessing when God forgives our sins and our evil deeds.  (Romans 4:7-8)

When he leaves, send him off with your blessings.  (1 Corinthians 16:11)
