Lesson 2 is Jesus the Good Shepherd, which is found in John 10, verses 7-21. Let’s start with the Listening Exercise. This exercise is the first part of Intermediate Lesson 2, or you can do it as an individual listening exercise.

First, be prepared to find the answers to these four questions as you listen:

  1. What is meant by a “good shepherd?”
  2. How are hired workers different from the shepherd?
  3. If Jesus is the shepherd, who are the sheep that find pasture?
  4. What did people think of what Jesus said?

Click the play button when you are ready to listen. Find the answers to the four questions. Listen again and again, and become more familiar with the words each time you listen.

Do you hear the way English speakers put stress on certain words and syllables? Maybe you heard peculiar pronunciations, like the “eh” sound of the schwa? Don’t worry if you don’t understand everything! Do your best.

Now, move on to the Reading Exercise.
