The story of how Peter Is Rescued by an angel is found in Acts 12:6-19. This is a lesson for upper intermediate to advanced learners.
Let’s start with the Listening Exercise. This exercise is the first part of Advanced Lesson 4, or you can do it as an individual listening exercise.
First, be prepared to find the answers to these five questions as you listen:
- Where was Jesus at the beginning of the passage?
- How did the angel help Peter escape?
- What was Rhoda’s reaction when Peter knocked on the gate of Mary’s house?
- What did Peter say to the Lord’s followers who had gathered at Mary’s house?
- What did Herod do the next day?

Peter Is Rescued – Acts 12:6-19 CEV
Before you look at the transcript of this passage, try shadowing the speaker. That is, say the words along with him, repeating what he says and how he speaks. Do your best, but don’t worry because shadowing can be difficult. Try several times! It’s very good speaking and pronunciation practice. In the Reading Exercise, you can practice shadowing again when you can read from the transcript as you listen.
Now, move on to the Reading Exercise.
