First of all, I want to thank everyone who joined us as we launched Learn English with the Bible in 2022! Your support means the world to me. I’ve taken a lot of your ideas and suggestions into consideration as we move into what’s new for 2023.
New Lesson Plan Ebook
If you’re an email subscriber, you have heard me promising a new ebook of lesson plans for a long time. I’m happy to say that the book, The Story of Easter, is in the final editing process and will be finished by the end of March. It will be available to purchase exculsively on Amazon as an ebook, as well as in print, for about three months, then I hope to make the ebook available here on the website as well.
The Story of Easter
Several years ago, I was talking with a Chinese college student as we went out to dinner for his birthday. We had a great discussion, and he was very interested to know what Christians believed. “What is Easter?” he asked me. His question, and the discussion that followed, was the seed that inspired “The Story of Easter” ebook.
“The Story of Easter” contains 20 lesson plans with activities and worksheets for advanced beginner to lower intermediate students. We use Bible texts from the last three chapters of Matthew for reading, listening, vocabulary, and speaking exercises.
Vocabulary words are taken from the lesson as well. The grammar topics may seem somewhat random, as they highlight grammar that is found in the lesson texts, but overall the grammar focus is on English prepositions.
New Content for Beginners
Many of you have told me you work with beginners. A new book of lesson plans for beginners is in the works, focusing on God’s creation, from the first chapter of Genesis.
There will also be new self-study lessons for learners new to English, and a section on how to write the Roman alphabet. These lessons could be adapted if you work with children.
More Website Resources
Many sections of the website remain incomplete, including the really important pronunciation section. We’ll work on finishing these areas and creating new guides for grammar and spelling, always using Bible verses as examples.
There are more self-study lessons coming as well, covering Old Testament as well as New Testament stories.
Social Media
With a new ebook pending and more website content, it’s time to reach out directly to teachers and learners with social media. I would love to know what social media platforms you use, so I know the best places to focus. Please use the form at the bottom of the post to send me a message!
Volunteering at Learn English with the Bible
My dream is that Learn English with the Bible will really grow and be able to provide teachers and English learners around the world with Bible-based resources. If you are an experienced ESL teacher with a few extra hours on your hands, I would love to talk to you about getting involved with this mission! Right now the work is all volunteer-based, but hopefully in the future we can grow to become a self-sustaining ministry. Send me a message and let’s talk!
Let Me Know What You Think!
Are you a teacher who has requested the free ebook? Are you a student who has worked through some of the self-study lessons? I would love your feedback! Tell me how these resources have helped you, and how they could be improved to help you even better.
Email Newsletter
Be sure to sign up for the newsletter so you will be the first to know of new content. I try to send an email newsletter each week, though sometimes I’m a little slow.
New Donation Button
If Learn English with the Bible has helped you, or if you would like to support this ministry, please consider making a donation with the PayPal button on the right. We are independently funded, and you can be sure that anything you donate will go directly into new content creation and support as you learn and teach English in your communities around the world.
Thank you for reading all the way to the end! Know that you are all in my prayers and that I am lifting you up to God, that He might bless you, and keep you, and give you His peace! Leave a comment, or just say hi! I’ll see you in the next post.
